Throwback to this past summer when I donated 16 inches of my hair to Pantene to make wigs for cancer patients! It was definitely hard to cut that much of my hair but it was so rewarding. If anyone is … Continue reading →
Whilst the Oscars are a time for fashion-trés-classique, the VMA’s are an occassion for funky, fun and daring garb. Many artists get the balance of edge and fashion SO wrong, but these 3 ladies knocked it out of the park! Hot, youthful and still high-fashion! (Needless to say- between these garments and the N*SYNC reunion, I was very happy!)
Taylor Swift stunned in a floor-length, navy Herve Leger bandage dress. The plunging neckline and chest detailing gives this garment the extra glam factor, and brought her right to the top of my Best Dressed list. Leger scores a perfect 10 in terms of structure and fit! This dress is GORGE on her! The styling of this piece is perfect; great job.
I had a really hard time deciding between Taylor and her BFF Selena for the #1 spot, and I’m still on the fence…that’s how INCREDIBLE Selena Gomez looks in this knock-out navy dress by Atelier Versace! Wow! The thigh high slit, and built in exposures are incredible! She is wearing the PERFECT ensemble for the VMA’s. Completely event appropriate. Go Selena! This was one of my favorite gowns of the night for its unique qualities and beautiful structure.
Shailene Woodley was ab-solutely beautiful in her Emilio Pucci crop top and mini skirt! I chose this for the perfect balance of color with a solid top, and the crop gives it the PERFECT youthful edge that we are looking for at the VMA’s. She nailed this fun look by styling it with classy, pulled back hair, showing off her gorgeous face and body.
All 3 ladies look gorgeous, and I would have put them all in 1st place but it’s fun to have a friendly fashion ranking. Who was your favorite look last night?
While scrolling through the Pinterest feeds I came across this pin and thought ti was so neat! It is a description of “The History of the Little Black Dress”. It shows how the term “Little Black Dress” has been used for ages among women for the classic black dress that everyone searches for, but the idea of what is considered classic has changed over time.
This pin really shows how fashion goes through phases and will go in and out of a style. You see the little back dress go from simple and sophisticated to eccentric and loud and back to simple again. People always say that thing will come back into style and I actually think that is the case when it comes to fashion.
I think my favorite version of the little black dress would have to be the 1960’s with the Audrey Hepburn little black dress. It is so simple but absolutely classy, elegant, and beautiful. The pin even states how the 60’s reflected some of the 1920s style (which if you remember I am completely obsessed with).

Hello again readers! Ready for your Weekly Pinterest Pick?
This week’s pick was inspired by a guest that my family is housing for a while as he is visiting our sister, Kara. His name is Alex Ross and he is originally from England, but is currently residing in New York. While visiting us, we got talking about the fashion world and all the amazing designers and we got onto the topic of Christian Louboutin Shoes. Now I don’t know about all of you, but if I was able to chose any shoe to own I would chose these shoes hands down.
Look at how beautiful they are in all of their perfection. I chose the classic black stiletto with the red sole because I find that to be the signature Louboutin shoe. These shoes are timeless and without a doubt will remain in style for more than a life time. And if you recall, (or are a total movie lover like me) Sandra Bullock wore a pair of stunning Louboutin shoes in the movie The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds. Loved that movie, and also her shoes!
Let us know who your favorite designer is! And for more fashion finds or outfit inspirations go follow us on Pinterest!
Laura and I not only write the blog together, but we both coach dance too! Yes, both! Dance isn’t just about the art and athleticism. Another huge component: the culture. There is a full force culture in terms of style, fashion, and all-around presentation in the dance world. This goes for choreography, costuming and of course rehearsal clothing. In class I need to be able to move in whatever I’m wearing (obvi), and keep cool. The outfit HAS to be functional above all else. Here’s yesterday’s look in lyrical hip hop class.
Above: HAREM PANTS: Forever 21.
What do you do for exercise? And where do you buy your work out clothes? I want to know!
Todays pick of the week is the trending patterned maxi skirt. I have to say I am totally in love with this look! these skirts are so cute and stylish and the best part is that it basically makes the outfit. All you need is a plain tee or tank and then your outfit is all set and done. Because of that reason it is definitely a must have for every girl’s closet because it easily makes a cute, trendy outfit for the warm, summery days (not to mention they are adorable).
I chose this maxi skirt in particular to because it is different from the typical chevron or tribal maxi skirt that you usually see (don’t get me wrong, I LOVE those too). The skirt is a geometric flower print on navy blue which is paired with a plain white tank. I also love how in the pin there is a pop of color with the coral necklace. A necklace or a belt can help dress up this super easy look.

Till next time fashionistas!
P.S. Fun fact about me. I am OBSESSED with bows! I think they are so adorable and if I could get away with it I would probably where a bow in my hair every day (but instead I wear the adorable and dainty bow necklace from Tiffany’s every day; probably my favorite piece of jewelry I have ever owned). So while pinning today I came across this pin and it is just too fantastic not to share. So here is a pin of a bunch of super cute hair bows that if I could, I would own every single one.
The 2013 Met Gala was a feeding frenzy for fashion-lovers!!! The punk theme is awesome, but clearly my pics for top 3 best dressed of the night are ultra feminine with accents of edge.
1. BEST DRESSED: No surprise that it’s the one and only Blake Lively!!! Gorgeous, newlywed and stunning in her Gucci Première Gown. She is the face of the brand’s fragrance, so it makes sense that she wore the Italian designer. The skirt is made of all leather and organza. Lorraine Schwartz jewels.
2. Rooney Mara’s gown is more feminine than usual (she is usually structured, edgy, and a little punk) so this look is a winner for her!! You can’t go wrong when Givenchy Haute Couture rolls out a custom made gown for you, right? I LOVE the shoulder lace detailing, and the zipper down the front.
3. Jessica Alba looks STUNNING in this Tory Burch gown, which was designed specifically for her. You can’t tell in the pic, but the reason this made top 3 (besides her obvious radiance) is the amazing detail. It is ALL laser-cut leather. The ab cutouts are great, and her Christian Louboutin spiked clutch isn’t to be messed with!
I’m sure you had your own favorites last night! Who is your pick for best dressed? I can’t wait to watch the Fashion Police Met Gala special to see who their favorites were.
Do we know what is coming up for all the young ones in high school?! PROM SEASON!! So in honor of those girls stressing to find the perfect dress for the night they have been waiting for their whole lives, I have chosen a drop dead gorgeous gown as my Pinterest Pick for this week.
The gown is from the 2008 Spring Collection from Reem Acra, and even though its an “oldie” in the fashion world, it is still beautiful! The long, flowing skirt adds an angelic elegance the the dress and with the scrunched bodess gives it more of a modern fashion feel. And although I am not one for sleeves and a floor length gown, the beaded cap sleeves on this dress make the down look more elegant and sophisticated.
This dress was seen worn by Olivia Wilde at the 60th Primetime Emmy Awards and won Best of 2008 Red Carpet Gowns! Now I believe that award speaks for itself and verifies how gorgeous this dress is.
Now I dont know about you, but I would have loved to wear a dress like this to my Prom, but it is most likely out of my budget. Nevertheless, it is still a beautiful dress to look at! To check out other formal gowns and even everyday styles follow us on Pinterest and check in for the weekly Pinterest Pick of the Week!
Till next time Fashionistas,
P.S. I can not wait for Great Gatsby this Friday becasue I am a huge fan of the books (and of the 1920s)! So in honor of the movie opening this week here is a Great Gatsby inspired headband that is absolutely gorgeous with its stoning detail!
I wanted to share this glam look with you from the annual dance team awards banquet, held for the competitive teams I coach. So fun to see everyone dressed up!!! Featured in a photo with me, above right, is one of my Senior Team Dancers, Rachel. She’s wearing a beautiful dress by Kirra, sold at PacSun. (Thanks for the pic, Rach!) Such a great night. Congrats to all my ladies!!!!! We ROCKED this entire season!!! Title-holding-champions! Go Capistrano Dance!!!
This article ran in the Orange County Register about the Kendra Scott store in Newport Beach. My picture and interview was in it!!!!
The article quoted me several times, and also stated “(Sara) has become an expert … at spotting necklaces or earrings on stars such as Sofía Vergara or Hilary Duff.” -Magda Liszewska, OC Register
BIGGEST shout out to my husband- thanks for getting up early and getting the paper with me before work; you made me feel so supported and happy!!! Special thanks to my gorgeous Mother In Law for waking me up, sending these pics and being so happy for me!!! Best wake up call ever.
I GOT TO MEET AND CHAT WITH KENDRA SCOTT! Yes, she IS this gorgeous in person (actually even prettier), yes, she is extremely kind and gracious, and YES of course I left with new earrings! It was an honor to be invited to meet her. Kendra’s ENTIRE staff at headquarters (Austin, TX) saw, read and loved the blog post I wrote about her store opening. In case you missed my writing and photos about her Newport Beach store opening last week, click HERE.
Let’s get to the goods: THE JEWELRY!!! To meet Kendra in person I wore the logo-fabulous Dawn Medallion earrings in gold, and Harlow necklace in white. We talked about her beautiful store, her great brand, and her upcoming plans. I absolutely LOVE her! She autographed one of my jewelry pouches, and we got some photos together too. (SO FUN!)
Below: Upper-left, Sky Earrings in Slate // Bottom-Right, Stella Earrings in Coral // Upper-Right, Kendra and Me!
Sky will be posted with a rocker vibe outfit soon. You’ll have to wait until May for Stella because I plan to wear those to an event, which I will post then. I’m excited to wear those coral beauties!
Kendra Scott’s business philosophy is “Family, Fashion & Philanthropy” and her jewelry is worn by countless celebs like Sofia Vergara, Hillary Duff, Cameron Diaz, Eva Longoria and more. She has a multi-million dollar business that started with just $500 to launch a mini jewelry collection. She’s amazing, and her stores are too!
Hello again readers! Your Pinterest Pick of the Week is here again with my second pin. A couple of days ago, Sara and I were talking about how the 60’s business casual trend (like seen in the show Mad Men) was coming back into style. And what a coincidence that while scrolling through the feeds, I find this lovely pin of 60’s inspired ensembles. Not only that, but Banana Republic is also starting a line of Mad Men inspired clothing for women that is a take of the 60’s look. Love it!
It is a classy look that is absolutely adorable. It has the serious, get down to business feel, but still looks feminine and very stylish. The looks in the pin I have picked are cute and modest, and definitely have the 60’s feel. And the best part is that it doesn’t look too retro where it looks like you’re trying to go vintage because it has the perfect amount of a modern take in it as well. I don’t know about you, but I am on the 60’s fashion comeback train! Enjoy the pin and check out our Pinterest account if you would like the link for the Banana Republic line or want to see more of our pins.
Above: Dress: Forever 21, hi-lo chiffon leopard tank dress, Necklace: J Crew, bubble necklace in Kelly green, Shoes: Steve Madden, Tampaa in black.
This was a really fun day dress! To shift into evening I added the J Crew Bubble necklace*, and revamped the hair and make up a little. I had a work event, and people went wild for this outfit (no pun intended). It’s so easy to pump up an inexpensive dress from Forever 21 with some fab accessories and styling. The necklace was the perfect pop of color. I had to walk all night, so wedges were the clear choice!
Hope this gives you some ideas for your next day dress look. What are your favorite accessories to take an outfit from cute to FAB?
*J Crew Bubble necklace: I have one of these from amazon.com, and one authentic J Crew (pictured above). Get the real one, it’s WORTH IT! My other one is pretty, but it doesn’t even compare in quality. I’m all for a great “replica”- but I have yet to see a good one of this piece. If you don’t want to pay the hefty price tag on this necklace, get it barely used and truly authentic on eBay. That’s what I did! It was a steal! In case you want to know the giveaway of the imitations on eBay: the hardware holding the bubbles on. It’s a different shape than the J Crew hardware.
KENDRA SCOTT IS OFFICIALLY IN NEWPORT, AND I HAD THE PRIVILEGE TO BE THE VERY FIRST CUSTOMER IN THE STORE AS SOON AS IT OPENED! Congrats Kendra Scott to you and your entire team- the store is STUNNING!!! I’m pictured above with the GORGEOUS KS staff at the Newport store. Of course I wore my Danielle earrings. When visiting a designer, it’s only proper fashion etiquette that you wear his or her pieces. The staff was so sweet. They had breakfast pastries and mimosas ready, paired with SUPERB customer service. Shopping at this store is a dream.
I have a few pics of the store details in this collage, but you HAVE to visit for yourself. They have the most gorgeous, clean, and fabulous display cases, layout and vibe. It is 100% true to the KS brand!
The Harlow necklace in white is a reward I got myself for recently reaching some big, personal goals and achievements. It made it SO much more exciting and gratifying. Harlow is a celebrity favorite (I personally love Hillary Duff in her green one). I’m also showing my new Dawn Medallion earrings. These are the PERFECT everyday earring. They can be dressed up or down (as it is with ALL KS pieces).
I find Kendra Scott jewelry to be the highest quality, beautiful designs and so AMAZING to wear. It always takes great photos, and her pieces match with every outfit. You can’t go wrong. This store has an amazing color bar, gorgeous light barn wood flooring, insanely beautiful entry way and a awesome sitting area. You can see I also fell in love with the Allison earrings in purple, so they left with me. I picture wearing them on vacation, in a dress by the water, with a pony tail in my hair to let them sway around. They are so fun and happy-go-lucky! I love the rich color too.
And of course, for you fashionistas out there…today’s Kendra Scott store opening day outfit:
To help our readers explore new fashion we have decided to start a new weekly post…the Pinterest Pick of the Week! I will be posting my favorite find off of Pinterest every week to give you all some more inspiration for clothes, hair, make-up, and more! Hope you enjoy!
This week’s pick is a post of a cute summery look in honor of the warm weather finally coming out to join us! An adorable blue skirt with subtle polka-dots partnered with a unique white laced back top, a brown belt, and a simple gold necklace. Love the easiness of the outfit paired with the cute and adorable summery side too. Enjoy the pin and follow us on Pinterest to see what else we love!
I got a great question last week: Where do I buy day dresses? My favorite stores for day dresses are: Forever 21 (inexpensive & trendy), Ardeb B. (if you hit a good sale you can really strike fashion gold), Bebe (pricey, but the quality is BEYOND) and Loehmann’s (I’m a BARGAIN HUNTER so this is my mother-ship; best high-end brands for unbeatable prices).
Here’s the maxi look I wore on Friday in Beverly Hills & LA. I had a dance competition for all my awesome dance teams. My outfit had to be comfortable and functional! The key to daily style is mixing inexpensive pieces with high end pieces to make a complete, fab look.
After running around ALL day, and getting all of our dancers situated it was time for evening competition. I took the hair down and volumized to change it up for a night look.
These earrings are AWESOME with so many different outfits. I always feel glam in them!!! Kendra Scott is easily my favorite jewelry designer. Here’s a pic of the Danielle earrings from her blog (this is not my photo- visit blog.kendrascott.com) KENDRA SCOTT WEBSITE HERE
Lisa Vanderpump (RHOBH) has these earrings too! Here are my white mother of pearl earrings up close.
Be sure to tell me some of your favorite day dress looks! I love seeing how people put their fashions together. And WERK the look!
P.S. For those of you wondering, my dance teams all did amazing and placed in top 3!
