What I Wore: Last Breakfast of 2013

My husband and I enjoyed our last breakfast date of 2013 in Laguna Beach. A clear, but crisp morning called for layers! Bidding farewell to December, I wore pine green, Christmas red, and snowy white!

Weekend Casual

My casual outfit on Sunday while running errands. Why do I post so many “errands” outfits? Because most of us don’t spend their Sundays on red carpets, and doing press interviews! We all need cute, accessible outfits on the regular.

If you wear a detailed or patterned skirt, like my lace one, keep the top ultra simple! Otherwise the outfit looks overwhelming instead of easy-breezy. This black tank is the right balance for this style.

20130910-072341.jpgI like this ensemble because its comfortable, and can go from errands, to hanging with friends, to a family BBQ. Having multi-purpose pieces in your closet is key to building a functional wardrobe. What are some of your favorite casual pieces?

Hostess with the Mostest!!

Are you hosting Mother’s Day at your house? Mom is the PERFECT reason to dress up. It’s not about wearing the fanciest, most expensive clothes… it’s about honoring your mama and showing how much you care by taking the time to look fab FOR her! Here’s a little hostess outfit inspiration. (This is what I wore hosting both mine and my husband’s families over for Easter lunch.)

Table setting ideas? Here are a few pics of how I had set up Easter at our home:

Even if you’re not having mom over (maybe you’re going out to celebrate, or visiting other relatives), it’s still a great idea to show your love and admiration by looking nice. What are your Mother’s Day plans, and of course I also want to know: What will you be wearing? To our most fashionable mom, I love you!!

Pinspiration: Nautical!

A fun outfit on Pinterest inspired this nautical look. Instead of a short-sleeve tee, I wore a long sleeve, added accessories and did a red short instead of white. My look was for a night out at a tepanyaki restaurant. It was fun, and I enjoyed this outfit!

Below is the pin I saw on Pinterest that “Pinspired” this my outfit.

I love this look for a casual, vacation day. I will definitely do this outfit with the white shorts during beach season.

*Tip on finding J Crew pieces at prices that won’t break the bank: e bay!!! Be sure your item is authentic in order to get the great J Crew quality we all know and love.

What to Wear: Cold Trip to the Mountains

20130420-180050.jpg
My husband and I went up to the mountains. It was sunny, but COLD!!! If you’re in the mountains, you can look chic, while maintaining great comfort and practicality. Put a warm vest over some flannel and jeans, and you’re there! Easy as 1, 2, 3. The key is not to wear tons of baggy clothes – you’ll lose any feminine shape, and look messy. For more chilling climates, I recommend the Columbia omni-tech 3 in 1 jackets. I LOVE them (countless features)! Columbia makes their jackets with a little extra length in the back; an invaluable quality in cold weather! I find competitors’ jackets to be cute in appearance, but lacking in overall versatility and length in comparison to the Columbia ones. (That’s just personal preference!)

I love being outdoors. What are your favorite wardrobe essentials to bring on your ski and snowboard trips? Keep warm, and don’t forget to bring warmer clothes for nighttime. Be smart about weather and attire!
