Maxi-“mum” Joy!

Image

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this maxi I wore for my first baby shower! The navy blue is classic, and easy to style with a messy bun and statement earrings. So excited to be a “mum,” and super happy to celebrate in style! If you wear giant earrings like these, go sans necklace, so you don’t overdo it (wait, did I just say that accessories can be “overdone?!” Never thought I’d say that…but yes, it’s possible!) I feel so thankful to the women who surrounded me with so much LOVE, and threw me the most beautifully hosted/decorated/catered baby shower ever. It was GORGEOUS! So much fun spending time with people I love.

Dress: Modern Vintage Boutique (current); Earrings: Arden B. (old) – alternate options on Bauble Bar here. Wearing Ardell #120 demi lashes, and Bobbi Brown Illuminating Finish Powder Compact Foundation in Natural (4).

Currently Loving…

Hello Glamazons! It is SPRING, and there are SO MANY things I’m LOVING right now!!! Check these beauties out; you might find something you love too!

**FASHION!**

I am having a blast dressing this bump! Don’t get me wrong, I have to work at keeping myself healthy and fit, but that’s part of the joy too! Eating right, exercising the right amount, and enjoying every second of it! It’s an indescribable blessing to go through this experience. As far as the fashion goes: Sporty, casual, dressy glam…I love it ALL!!!

Draw inspiration from these pics for how to throw your own ensemble together! A fierce jacket with some Nike hi tops for a sporty chic day? I think YES! Leave your blouse open with a plain tank and and wear a cute hat + statement jewelry…unexpected and so fun!

All of these outfit details can be found on my daily Instagram! Go to @sara_hodge, and find out where you can get these threads! For example, my favorite black moto jacket and the blush pink blouse are both Forever 21! Can you believe it? So inexpensive, but they look high end! Jewelry, shoes, accessories, leggings and more!

**BEAUTY!**

Hello, Gorgeous! These are some fab finds right now, that you can ROCK ROCK ROCK! I’m loving staying on my nail game! It’s been my fun treat during pregnancy. Try a FIERCE white and gold combo this spring!!! I did a party nail + a chevron nail to dress this up…and I love how fun it is!

If you love that glammed up light pink nail polish, you can get it. It’s “Mod About You” by OPI!

ImageImage

LOVE LOVE LOVE this Sonia Kashuk Fan Brush (link here)!!! It’s the best $8.00 make up brush around, and a steal at that price! It’s fine fibered, and lightweight. Since it’s not thick and heavy, it distributes the perfectly faint amount of highlighter and shimmer to the highest part of my cheekbones. I LOVE IT!

Image

If you follow my daily Instagram, you’ve already seen this FABULOUS highlighting chunky brow pencil by Anastasia of Beverly Hills (link here). IT’S FANTASTIC!! The matte end PERFECTLY highlights my brow bone, and the shimmer side I actually use as a little accent on my inner lid and inner waterline.

Image

Diva Lipstick by Mac (link here)! Utilizing bright lipstick to channel my spring vibes isn’t the only reason for this amazing shade of rouge…it makes my teeth look whiter!!! Being pregnant is the best thing ever! BUT there are certain beauty products I can’t use during this time, for health purposes of course. I can’t whiten my teeth! I love having a bright smile, but right now, I can’t use the Crest White Strips that I love. Since wearing a bright lip makes your teeth look whiter, I’m taking advantage of it! This pic has NO EDITING ON MY TEETH! NO FILTER! This is truly how they look with this lipstick! If you go heavier handed with this lipstick, it can go do a really beautiful, deep oxblood color, but I like to wear it a little brighter. If you want another great RED by MAC, I love Russian Red (link here).

**ACCESSORIES!**

Ahhhhhh! That’s my excitement for these GORGEOUS, incredible purses! Ju-Ju-Be has been on the scene for a while, but this company just took their product from diaper bag functionality to glamorous FABULOSITY! Yes, you heard me right: diaper bags! Hey, I’m becoming a mom, I need solutions for all of the “fun” things I need to tote around. The Legacy Line has the most functional, loaded-with-pockets, machine washable, products…and the list of benefits and features goes on and on! I’m not exaggerating! Can we all just swoon over the fabulous gold hardware on the purses? I’m OBSESSED! My favorite print is the black and white stripe called “First Lady” (hello?! so chic!!!)… and I love the smaller bags to carry inside the bigger one. Shop the line HERE (link). Finally, a company that has married function with fashion..thank you Ju-Ju-Be! A great solution for moms like me! I love not having to sacrifice style for the daily routine. We need more like this in the future! Keep it up!

Yes, I love the bags so much that you get 2 pics! If you follow me on Instagram @sara_hodge, you might have seen my blazer post! I picked the HOT PINK one (link here)! Thanks for all your help Glamazons!

My thoughtful, and awesome-gift-giving in-laws got me these PERFECT Kendra Scott Skylar Earrings in neon pink (link here) for my bday! I’ve been waiting ’til now to post them, and I love them! They match with so many things in my closet, and they are too fun!

Also! If you’re a pen-to-paper kind of girl (like me), and you love keeping an organized schedule and life, this is FOR YOU! I can’t take credit for finding the Erin Condren Life Planner (link here) – one of my best gal pals, Rachel, introduced me to this super hero of all planners a couple years ago. I’m hooked! It’s worth EVERY PENNY! Tons of space, sections, and lots of fun features. Check them out online. They are coming back in stock next month; don’t miss out! I got mine this year in Tiffany Blue!

Image

The accessories I wore in my glam outfit above! The heels are Guess, and the jewelry, of course, is Kendra Scott! The gorgeous Ivy Bracelet in gold was also a birthday treat…beautiful! Bracelet link here, and earrings here.

Another double product picture for you, because this wrap bracelet is TOO AMAZING for anything less! This is my second custom wrap bracelet by Mrs. Hipp Designs. You can follow and order actually on her Facebook or Instagram. She makes extremely high quality wraps, and pictured here is NATURAL LEATHER! The bead work is gorgeous, and I can wear at different lengths. So many different colors and options; you’ve got to check it out. Believe it or not, even though this style bracelet can retail upwards of $240.00… This designer sells them for $40.00+. Talk about a great GIFT to give yourself or a friend! Support local businesses; I love this one!

I hope you all have an incredible weekend filled with love, laughter and family! Remember, you smile is always your best accessory!

Favorite Look this Week + 3 More Shoe Options!

This is my favorite look this week! It’s not hyper glam (my usual fave), but it’s casual-chic, comfortable and super easy to put together! Even if you don’t have these exact items and brands in your closet, you can get this look too… long-sleeved shirt + vest + skinny jeans + boots + statement earring = BOOM! You’re rockin’!

DETAILS: White shirt is Mossimo from Target // Vest is OLD NAVY (current, click link) // Jeans are (maternity jeans, but they sell the exact same style in non-maternity wear) // Boots are FRYE (current, click link) ***commentary below***// Earrings are KENDRA SCOTT (current, click link) // Leather Wrap Bracelet is MRS. HIPP DESIGNS (current, click link). 20140416-104048.jpg

The boots, Melissa Boot by Frye, are in the cognac color, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this riding boot. Incredible! First time I saw them were on Jennifer Aniston! I thought “OMG THOSE BOOTS!!!! MUST HAVE!” For the longest time I couldn’t justify the price…I waited and waited for a flash sale, and when the time came I pounced on them! (Trust me, they were still expensive.) However, in having 1 PERFECT pair of riding boots in a classic color, I’ve avoided the pitfalls of buying tons of wannabe boots that don’t last as long, and aren’t as high of quality. These have lasted me for years, and I can probably get over a decade’s use out of them. Doesn’t seem too expensive when you look at it that way, right?! Believe it or not, this is part of being a BUDGETISTA!!! (That’s one of the things I call myself…a fashionista on a budget.) I mix a lot of my outfits with hi-end, low-end, like this one. An $8.00 shirt from Target, plus high end boots.

MY BIGGEST TIP FOR BIG-BUDGET ITEMS: SPEND ON THE LONG-TERM CLASSICS, NOT ON THE TRENDS!!!!!!!!! If there’s something trendy (even if it’s a 5-year trend, to me that’s NOT LONG-TERM!!!) don’t spend the crazy $$ on it! You’ll regret it later on when you realize people stopped wearing palazzo pants, and you’re stuck with your overpriced leg parachutes. That’s why I got these boots – riding boots are timeless…from the 1800’s til now, and in the future, they will always be around! Trends: go lower end. You’ll feel proud of yourself for having self-control in the spending department too!

1. Motorcycle Brewzzer Boot by STEVE MADDEN (these are going fast, on clearance everywhere…I love mine)

2. (MY PERSONAL FAVORITE ALTERNATE OPTION) Cognac Angellica Lace Up Booties by NINE WEST

3. Chestnut Suede Desert Wedge Booties by TOMS

Hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed writing it for you! Would love to see the ideas you come up with out of your own closet, as inspired by this look! Tag me on Instagram! Have an incredible week, and remember that your SMILE is always your best accessory!

Flashback Friday: 2 Weeks Ago!

FBF to 2 weeks ago: Maternity Style! {My bump has grown since this pic, which you’ll see a little more in upcoming posts.} I LOVE BEING PREGO!!!!! Everyday fashion is so amazing these days, that I will try my best not to fall into the “maternity wardrobe” trap of yesteryear – no need for the daily frump. Pregnancy is so beautiful. If that is you out there: embrace the bump and enjoy the changes!

20140228-071943.jpg
Long tank dress is Tildon from Nordstrom (I treated myself to this amazing staple for my pregnancy), and top from Wet Seal.

Pregnant or not, this is a great basics idea: Form-fitted tank dress (you can get them cheap at most any store like Forever 21, H&M etc), and a loose, forgiving kimono wrap or shrug to hide anything that’s not looking exactly how you want it to (not that you have that problem!).

20140228-072838.jpg

Remington Curling Wand!

I really wanted a non-tapered curling wand with a wider barrel for a more relaxed wave look. This 1.5″ Remington wand from Target is AWESOME! Here’s the look:

**FYI: I curled the hair from my natural, curly style to keep the volume! If you want a sleeker, flatter look, curl it from straight hair.

20140218-100212.jpg
Scarf from Zara, Jacket is A&F, Grey Shirt is Isabella Oliver (fave of pregnant celebs), and of course the Frye boots! Jewelry by Kendra Scott.

20140218-100327.jpg
What’s your favorite hair styling tool? I would love to know!

20140218-100512.jpg

Going Out!

What do you do when you aren’t in the mood to full on blow-dry-and-style your hair? 1 HAT + 1 LOW SIDE BUN = INSTANT HAIR STYLE! Boom! Easy.

It’s no secret that I love a great wedge hi top sneaker! Buyers beware: there are many weird looking ones out there! Be very choosy. These Aldo’s are my fave signature wedge kicks; sleek, classy and fabulous. Also, IN LOVE with this wide-brimmed hat!

20140110-180845.jpg
OUTFIT: HAT, Shop Primadonna // JACKET, Forever 21 // PANTS, Bebe // SHOES, Aldo.

Fun Fact: Every piece of this outfit has appeared several times on the blog before, in other outfits (besides the hat)!!! A great wardrobe is about mixing and matching key pieces. No need to break the bank!

20140110-181236.jpg

Bon Voyage!!!

For the Thanksgiving holiday weekend the Fashion.Beauty.Sisters took a getaway trip down the coast, all the way to Ensenada. You’ll get all the fashionable details over the next few weeks.

Day 1: En route to our fabulous cruise!

20131201-091231.jpg
ABOVE: SWEATER & SKINNY JEANS: A&F // SCARF: ZARA // HAT: From a street cart vendor I found in Rome, Italy // BRACELET: Mrs. Hipp Designs (Instagram @mrshippdesigns) // BAG: Kate Spade weekender bag.

Concert Outfit: Boyce Avenue

I got to see Boyce Avenue perform their last show of this tour- it was amazing. For my concert-going outfit I was committed to not buying ANYTHING – my entire ensemble was already in my closet. Great feeling to remix your wardrobe and get more out of it!!! 20131103-221919.jpg
ABOVE: SHIRT: VS PINK // FLANNEL & DESTROYED JEANS: Abercrombie & Fitch // SHOES: Converse All Stars in white // NECKLACE: Nashelle // WATCH: Guess // BRACELET: Stella & Dot.

20131103-224115.jpgABOVE: Photo I took at the concert.

If you haven’t heard their music already, check out Boyce Ave. on YouTube HERE. Keep your acoustic concert outfits casual, comfortable and of course cute!

20131103-224158.jpg

Quilted Leather & Camo!!!

A quilted leather jacket is a MUST for the season, and camo pants (very on trend right now) have always been a favorite of mine. I love the quilted arm, structured shoulder, and cloth/zipper torso details on this jacket… Paired with moto boots that I found at TJ Maxx.

20131023-090720.jpg
These earrings, normally SUPER pricey, I found for only $10.00 on eBay!!!! They are authentic Tasha brand (sold usually at Nordstrom). Can’t beat this quality at this price!

20131023-090912.jpgYou don’t need to break the bank to have fun style. Buy basics from bargain stores and put them all together in a way that you love!

20131023-091241.jpg

Weekend Casual

My casual outfit on Sunday while running errands. Why do I post so many “errands” outfits? Because most of us don’t spend their Sundays on red carpets, and doing press interviews! We all need cute, accessible outfits on the regular.

20130910-072013.jpgABOVE: TANK: Victoria’s Secret PINK // SKIRT: Abercrombie & Fitch // JEWELRY: Tiffany & Co. // GLASSES: Salt. Optics.

If you wear a detailed or patterned skirt, like my lace one, keep the top ultra simple! Otherwise the outfit looks overwhelming instead of easy-breezy. This black tank is the right balance for this style.

20130910-072341.jpgI like this ensemble because its comfortable, and can go from errands, to hanging with friends, to a family BBQ. Having multi-purpose pieces in your closet is key to building a functional wardrobe. What are some of your favorite casual pieces?

Dance Intensives: Studio Look

It’s important to dress for the occasion, and work is no exception! I have coached hip hop intensives over the past couple weeks, and this was one of my favorite looks.

20130830-073952.jpgABOVE: PANTS & SHIRT: Forever 21 // HAT: Lids // SHOES: Nike SB.

If we have a networking event with other dance companies, I dress professionally. For ballet class, a leotard of course, and for hip hop I get funky and fresh with it. Having the right ensemble really sets the tone and gets me pumped for the task at hand! This is a hair and make up look I had with a different hip hop outfit. The hoops are from Francesca’s, and I’m wearing Lancôme Hypnose Star mascara.

What I Wore Today

Today I wore this quilted white leather jacket, black top, army green pants and heels. The weather was finally cool enough to wear this glam jacket; I like the zipper pocket details and wrist buttons. I accessorized with the “J Crew Venus Flytrap Necklace.” Hope this gives you an idea for your next casual, fun outfit!

Layer It Up for Alaska!!

“Dress in layers because the weather can change at any moment!” That’s what everyone told me before my trip to Alaska. Prep for rain, snow, cold, hot; you get the idea. These are the layers I wore in Icy Strait Point, Alaska. Even though there was super light rain, I wasn’t cold at all. This outfit was perfectly functional! My boots were just right for all the terrain we covered too! It was a really fun day!!

20130718-183926.jpg YELLOW THERMAL: Target // JEANS: Abercrombie & Fitch // BOOTS: Sorel, Caribou // BELT: American Eagle Outfitters // PINK JACKET: Forever 21 // VEST: Columbia // INFINITY SCARF: Lulu Lemon.

We had an amazing 5 mile hike in Icy Strait Point. My husband took this photo of me among the trees.

20130718-184827.jpg

Anchorage had far less rain and mud, plus it was a little warmer! So I changed up the outfit with different pants, hiking shoes and dropped the scarf. It was great for another 5 mile hike! BELOW: JEANS Abercrombie & Fitch, boot cut vintage wash // HIKING SHOES: The North Face.

20130718-185814.jpgI’ll post more outfits from my trip, and if you ever go to Alaska, it’s TRUE: Dress in layers!

Running Errands: Easy & Fab

Woohoo! Back from an amazing trip, and feeling refreshed! Let’s talk fashion!

There’s no reason you have to look shabby running errands! Don’t get me wrong, I wear gym clothes to run around, get groceries, and make that last-minute run to Home Goods for a picture frame that I “need” 😉 …but for the days you’re not coming from a work out, keep it fresh with a super easy outfit. I wore this while getting some things done for our vacation.

20130712-215316.jpgBAG & SHOES: Jessica Simpson // SHIRT: Old Navy // EARRINGS: Kendra Scott, Heather Hoop Earrings in Slate

Stay fresh, joyful and positive! There’s much to be grateful for in this life.

20130712-215524.jpg

Father’s Day Outfit

Here’s what I wore on Father’s Day. Its SO comfortable, and I love the pop of color.

20130623-053304.jpg Best part: the ENTIRE outfit is less than $22.00!!! Most people pay more than that just for a shirt. SKIRT: Forever 21, $7.00 // TANK: $5.00 at one of those trends for less places // NECKLACE: amazon.com, $10.00.

You might recognize the skirt from another post. It’s versatile!

20130623-053734.jpg Always make sure you can wear your clothes multiple ways before you buy them, that way you get the most out of every piece. Plus it’s fun to mix and match!

20130623-054050.jpg

Last Minute Rush? Maxi and Hat!!!

I wasn’t even out of my pajamas yesterday, when I got the call for a great meeting … To be there in 45 minutes (that meant leaving the house ASAP). Needless to say there was no time for the regular routine. What to do in that situation? A maxi skirt and hat can work wonders!!! Looks like you put care and effort into your appearance, and it’s fab. My Kendra Scott “Cora” ring completed the whole look. Something about a great cocktail ring makes your ensemble look put together.

20130609-080449.jpgSHIRT: Wet Seal // SKIRT: Forever 21.

20130609-080501.jpg I usually wear my Cora ring on my fourth finger, right hand, but here’s a pic on the index just so you can see how it looks on. This ring seriously matches EVERY outfit!!!! Whether its running errands in jeans and a tee, to a black tie event- this is a MUST-HAVE in my jewelry arsenal.

20130609-080907.jpg Now, go run out the door with confidence! Don’t forget your most important accessories: your smile and joy!

20130609-081119.jpg

Summer Wedge Sandal!

20130519-223809.jpg This gorgeous wedge sandal (featured above in the neutral multi color) is PERFECT for summer.

Goes With: Everything from your coverup mini at the beach to a pair of skinny jeans. I would wear it with shorts, skirt, dress, and more. You can easily slip these on all season, and look like a shoe diva! The faux snake skin leather foot strap gives it an extra punch of glam.

COMFORT: I wore them the other day with a 1940’s style casual skater dress. Walked around all day…no discomfort. Love them! Found at Steve Madden stores, Steve Madden online and Nordstrom, these shoes are the perfect summer staple.

What shoes are you hoping for this summer? Find any fab ones lately?

20130519-224441.jpg

Mother’s Day!

I LOVE celebrating family! Naturally, Mother’s Day was so much fun. I wore this, and I almost DON’T want to tell you where my dress is from! It is so well-tailored (the pleating is so good), and material feels so luxurious- you’d believe it was strait off the Bloomingdales floor. However, I love helping all of you get fabulous fashions for less…so here is the info!

20130513-224641.jpg
If you don’t follow @fashionbeautysisters on Instagram, then you’re missing out on a lot of real-time fashion! A couple of the Insta sneak peaks I posted yesterday:

Hostess with the Mostest!!

Are you hosting Mother’s Day at your house? Mom is the PERFECT reason to dress up. It’s not about wearing the fanciest, most expensive clothes… it’s about honoring your mama and showing how much you care by taking the time to look fab FOR her! Here’s a little hostess outfit inspiration. (This is what I wore hosting both mine and my husband’s families over for Easter lunch.)

20130511-233506.jpg Above: SHIRT: Wet Seal, plum shoulder puff shirt // SKIRT: Abercrombie & Fitch, grey lace multi-layer skirt // HALF APRON: etsy.com, plum paisley. I paired this with a cute pair of sandal wedges, and accessories with diamond stud earrings (timeless).

Table setting ideas? Here are a few pics of how I had set up Easter at our home:

20130511-233742.jpg

Even if you’re not having mom over (maybe you’re going out to celebrate, or visiting other relatives), it’s still a great idea to show your love and admiration by looking nice. What are your Mother’s Day plans, and of course I also want to know: What will you be wearing? To our most fashionable mom, I love you!!

20130511-233958.jpg

Cold Shoulder Blouse // Day to Night

This is the first cold-shoulder top I’ve ever worn, and I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try!!!! (If you know me, you know I love any style that shows off the shoulders.)

20130512-000459.jpgI had a full day at the studio, running hip hop dance team auditions (SO much fun). I had to jet home and QUICKLY freshen up for a night out. As soon as my husband said it was a hot outfit, I knew all I had to do was throw up the hair, change the earrings and switch to heels. BA-BAM!

20130509-130132.jpg The emerald green teardrop earrings are from Francesca’s; they are sold in various colors.

Looking for a fun way to vamp up the wardrobe without breaking the bank? Grab a fun chiffon too from Forever 21, like I did here, and you’ll be feeling fab! What are some of your night outfits that you’ve been rockin’ lately?

20130509-130555.jpg

Casual Date Night!!

Date Night with the amazing hubs! It was 90 degrees outside at 6pm; so hot!!! I chose this fun, easy, and cool outfit!

20130505-074152.jpg
We had an awesome time. Great food, good laughs and even better company.

What are some of your fave things to wear on a date? If you’ve got one coming up, check out our other looks for some ideas!

What to Wear: Backyard BBQ

The sunny weather hit, so the hubby and I went to a BBQ with friends (fun!!). For a casual BBQ in the backyard, keep it simple! I know not everyone feels “at home” in a romper, but I absolutely love this one from GUESS. If you’re not jumping for jumpers, try an easy maxi dress, tee shirt and shorts combo, or those ratty old cut offs you wore while painting the house last summer. Go with the vibe of the party… Casual neighborhood thing? Keep it that way! BBQ at the pool? Wear a swim suit and a bright coverup. You get it; this is so easy!

20130428-225327.jpg Hats are perfect because they protect your beautiful eyes from the sun (prevent those crows feet!!), and you don’t have to worry about your hair – fabulous! I get a lot of questions about this monogram necklace. It’s Nashelle, and they make FANTASTIC jewelry. Get yours in the “Build Your Own” section of the website. The photo (above right) is a close up of my actual necklace.

Wear your sunscreen too!

20130428-225939.jpg

“You Look Like a Rocker Girl Today!”

My friends said “You look like a rocker girl today!” This outfit was DEFINITELY werkin’!!! (“Werk” with an “e” because it’s more fierce than just ‘work.’) I told you I’d post my outfit with the Skylar Earrings that I got from my special day with Kendra Scott. Here it is!!!

20130426-085427.jpg
Above: EARRINGS: Kendra Scott, Skylar in Slate // JACKET: Leather moto jacket I found at a great shop in Rome, Italy! You can find plenty of style stealers at Zara // SHIRT: Target // PANTS: Old Navy, Rockstar in Curry // SHOES: Target // PURSE: Michael Kors, Bedford Satchel.

Celebs love these earrings too…

Below: Celebrity Maria Menounos wearing the exact same earrings! (Alongside fashion mogul Rachel Zoe.)

20130426-093326.jpg

I am crazy about these hidden-wedge, hi-top sneakers! It’s easy to rock these, as long as you have the right outfit. Most celebs wear the famous Isabelle Marant “Bekkett” hidden wedge sneaker, which cost $640.00 (net-a-porter.com). Not kidding on the price tag! Mine were $24.00 at Target, and look nearly identical, plus they are SO COMFORTABLE! I walk around all day in them. Check out some celebs in the original Isabelle Marant kicks…

20130426-093018.jpg Above: Miranda Kerr, Julianne Moore, Hilary Duff (I adore her!), and Anne Hathaway.

Consider this a celeb look for less post, because the hidden wedges I’m wearing look just like the celebs’ and they are super comfy. Enjoy this trend!
